Betla Park: Palamau – Tiger Conservation, Jharkhand

Forest Department has started making arrangement for the conservation of Tigers in National Park Betla. About 100 Cameras would fix in the park. This would cost approximately Rs. 10 lakh, which is going to be beared by Central Government. These cameras would be adjusted on the tree’s branches. There would be also changes in water harvesting system for conservation of tigers. According to the forest department, there are only 14 Bengal Tiger in the park.

There is also plan to develop Grassland. The good thing is that forest department is establishing Tiger Foundation for Tiger conservation. Proposal would be forwarded to the state government. Besides, adoption scheme is also in action in this Biological garden, in which many companies have shown the interest.

Betla Park is in the district of Daltonganj, Jharkhand.This Palamau Sanctuary is spread over an area of 979sq.km. In September, 1989 the core area of 232 sq. kms of the sanctuary was baptized as Betla National park.  It has the honor of being the forest, where the world’s first tiger census was enumerated in 1932.This park  became one of the  9 tiger reserves in India under ‘Project Tiger’ in 1974.
