NCTE Bihar – Hope for Untrained STET Qualified Teachers

12th January, 2013 Patna :           There is hope that NCTE would pave the way for the recruitment of  Untrained teachers in Secondary and High Secondary schools,  who have qualified Bihar STET ( State Teacher Eligibility Test).This ray of hope have come after NCTE has asked the list of Untrained qualified STET candidates and other related details.According to Education department , National Council For Teacher Education ( NCTE) in its recent meeting has discussed on the issue of untrained STET qualified teachers in Bihar.

On 2nd January, 2013 , High Court of Patna has given the order that any untrained candidates cant become teacher, even if he or she is STET pass. It has also ordered to return the money of examination form of untrained candidates who appeared in the STET exam.As per the court , NCTE has not given permission to appoint untrained candidates as teacher. Still the meeting of NCTE on 9th January, 2013 is important. Even before this meeting NCTE has enquired thrice about this issue.

According to STET result total , 108607 candidates have qualified the exam, out of which 85625 are successful in Secondary and 22982 in High Secondary. Under Secodary school section , 22398 candidates are trained while 63227 are untrained. In High Secondary section 10502 are trained and 12480 are untrained. There is total vacancy of 71000 this year, while the total number of Trained STET qualfied candidate is 32900.
