The government has limited the role of agencies and distributors in providing new LPG connections. Now individuals can apply directly to the company. After the verification of the application the company will send the information to the nearest agency/ distributor who will provide service to the consumer registered through online mode.
The online application process is likely to get very popular across India as there are many LPG cylinder users who were buying the cylinder through illegal means. However, after the recent changes in the subsidy pattern the value of the cylinder in the illegal market has gone up to about thousand rupees and above. Consumers who were regular buyers from the black market are making earnest efforts to get the legal connection.
Once your application is approved the supply of the cylinder will commence in 3 weeks. Right now there are 140 million customers and government is expecting to reach the target of 150 million by 2015.
